{Follow along in a little project/challenge Dan and I have against one another. Every week we choose a word at random from a very, very long list of words we made. Each of us have to create our own photographic interpretation of that word…then we see whose is best! Links below to the other words we have already shot!}
Thank you for voting on your favorite “Salty” photo from last week! And just to be clear… I did not do anything to force that toddler tear! Ha! Daddy leaving the house with big brother was all it took to get that salty little tear on her cheek!
This week we had the word “Portrait”. It seems that some of the more simple words are also the most difficult. Portrait is pretty straightforward, and I even looked up a definition of the word: Portrait photography or portraiture is photography of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is usually the person’s face, although the entire body and the background or context may be included.
So, with this thought in mind…every day has an opportunity to make a portrait. Last weekend we had a couple events that seemed perfect for a portrait. At Meadowbrook farm a Civil War Battle Re-enactment was scheduled. Dan immediately claimed “dibs” on this one, and I was jealous. And, we had a “date” night planned at the Japanese Gardens in Seattle for their annual Moon Viewing Festival. Unfortunately, the foul weather made both of these less than ideal…and the Civil War Re-enactment was cancelled altogether after the first day! Everyone in this house was disappointed at that news!
But, we still managed to pull off our own versions of a “portrait”. So, here they are!
